Beverly Feldman Base Boots
I love these Beverly Feldman Base Boots. They are so unique and artistic. I wish they had them in my size. And I wish they had a more narrow calf. But I guess cowboy boots are supposed to be worn a little loose on the calf.

Labor Day Shoe Shopping

I admit, I spent Labor Day shoe shopping. I found some more mommy shoes for the fall and winter. I've decided that I really like some of Aerosoles sandals for the summer. The ones with the plush suede cushiony soles. But as far as fall and winter shoes, not many of their shoes are real leather, so they don't have as much give around the toes and stuff. The soles are comfy, but the rest is not so much.

So I decided to try Clarks shoes for the fall and winter. They all seem to be leather, and decent prices, too. Many of them have cushy soles as well. This weekend, I bought a pair of Clarks Rosabelle ankle boots at the outlet mall. I tried them on at the store, and they felt like I was putting on cushy snowboots. But they are cute with a relatively low and stable mommy heel. Online they got good reviews, too.

But in all of honesty, if I wasn't pregnant with also a toddler to run around after, I would have opted for a more sleek style of boot, like the Clark's Kathleen Sallee Ankle Boot in black leather. It has a little higher and pointier heel. And for a pretty pump, I would go for the Clarks Priscilla Renee T-Strap Pump. So pretty with the flower detail and the nicely shaped heel. Also, I realized that I need to wear either Mary Janes or T-Strap pumps because otherwise my heel always slips out of regular pumps. It is also supposed to have a cushy sole. It also comes in a cool grey metallic color. I would prefer it in black for simplicity's sake. But for something different, I might not mind that pewter type of color. I still would like to get these two shoes at some point to wear after the sleep deprived blurry days of the first year or so of giving birth.

But an alternative pump for the mean time would be the Clarks Sugar Plum Pump. It's got the same heel as the ankle boots that I just got. Plus an almost Mary Jane strap across the top. I'm a little iffy, I would have to try them on at the store to see if my heel would slip out, though. Interesting that they come in "flight attendant" navy. That must mean they are pretty comfortable? Probably would be great for lugging around a heavy infant car seat and chasing after a toddler. Got good reviews, too.

As far as flats are concerned. I have been eyeing the Sketchers Dollface Mary Janes for almost a year. I thought they'd be great for taking Bel to the park once the weather starts getting chilly and I don't feel like wearing flip flops or Tevas anymore. So I finally picked these up too.

Last but not least, I needed some flat-ish boots for this winter as well. All the boots I have are high-heeled, and not really baby friendly. So I bought the Aquatalia Design Knee-High Boot in suede black. I bought these online and didn't get a chance to try them on, but I'm hoping they fit well. The description sounded great, and they look pretty nice.

Aerosoles and Clarks Shoes

Since I've been a mom, having to tote my evergrowing toddler all over the place, I've started investing in some comfortable shoes. Yes, at first I started out with just some flats, low sandals, and even spunky converse shoes. But I wanted to find something a little dressier, so I turned to Aerosoles and Clarks shoes. Yeah, I never thought I would be wearing those types of shoes. But nowadays they make some really cute styles.

Here are some that I got and love:

Aerosoles Women's Plush Around Wedge Sandal (got one in red and one in beige)

Clarks Women's Fiddle Scroll Sandal (got the beige and the black patent)

Aerosoles Women's Beckon Flat (in black)

Aerosoles Women's Serial Port Boot (black)

Aerosoles Women's Isotonic Motorcycle Boot (I got it in black, but the brown is cute too)

Anyway, I'm sold. Especially with the second baby on the way, these shoes are life savers!

Johnson's No More Tangles Leave-in Conditioner

Here's a pic of the perm. Most of the curls fell out here. I think I wasn't using the right combo of products. But I think I might have it nailed down to using Johnson's Detangling Conditioner after I wash my hair, and then just coming it with a wide tooth comb, scrunching it with my hand, and letting it air-dry.

I was surprised that the Johnson's detangling leave in conditioner worked better than any of the other expensive salon products that I used. Most of them turned out to make my hair too frizzy and dry-looking, too flat, or crunchy. I started using it a while ago, while my hair was still straight, along with all the other baby products I've been using with my toddler.

Back to the 80's with a Perm

Back to the 80's with a PermI just got a perm. Haven't had one since 1992! But my straight thin hair was getting dull and boring. I got something a little curlier than a body wave. Now I have to figure out how to style it everyday. It's not just an easy throw on some detangler and blow dry type of thing anymore. It's trying out different hair products to find one that gives my curls enough lift but takes out the frizz!

I've tried some products from the hair salon, but they didn't seem to work well. I went back to using Johnson's leave-in detangler, but it doesn't seem to give me enough lift, i.e. my hair is too flat. So I think I have to use a root booster plus an anti-frizz/detangler.

I like the results I get from John Frieda Frizz-Ease Style Dream Curls Curl Perfecting Spray. It really does revive my curls. Especially after I've brushed them out or slept on them. It gives them a nice soft shape and cuts out the frizz. I might also try Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious Holding Foam to see if I can get a little more lift to the curl.

I still have to look for a good root booster. I'm thinking of trying Alterna BAMBOO Volume Uplifting Root Blast along with Serge Normant Meta Revive Dry Shampoo to give my hair a lift if it's gone flat after a day.

Dry Scalp Saver

Soft & Beautiful Botanicals Lite Creme MoisturizerSoft & Beautiful Botanicals Lite Creme Moisturizer is a hair product that I recently started using and absolutely love. This past winter, my hair, scalp, and skin have been dryer than they ever have been. I systematically went through a lot of products trying to find something for my hair. Finally I tried this stuff, and it works miracles! My hair used to fall out because my scalp was so dry that my hair follicles were petering out. I even tried rubbing lavender essential oil and grape seed oil into my hair, along with a bunch of other herbs that claimed to help. But to no avail. Until I found this Soft & Beautiful lite creme moisturizer.

I rub a very small amount of it all over my scalp, not the lengths of my hair, but just my scalp. It makes my scalp feel so good and moisturized. It feels like it awakens my follicles. Since I've been using that at least once or twice a day, my hair has stopped falling out, except for the normal brushings and such. Its so great because its good for your hair and scalp and your scalp gets a nice massage as you apply the lotion.

Since I've given birth, my scalp has become a lot more oily than when I was pregnant. So I've had to stop using this moisturizer. Actually I can't even use conditioner on my scalp anymore because it makes my hair too limp looking. Now, I just use conditioner on the bottom half of my hair. First I put the conditioner on the bottom half only, then I shampoo only my scalp, rinse, and condition the bottom half again. I leave the conditioner on while I wash the rest of my body. Then I use a wide tooth comb to comb through the conditioner. Finally, I rinse the conditioner out while using a scalp massager. The only deviation from this is when I just had my hair colored. Then I condition my scalp as well since the color has damaged all my hair.
