Product Description
Amethyst falls Wisteria vine Wisteria frutescent 'Amethyst falls' 'Amethyst falls,' like other Wisteria, is a strong grower, reaching 30' or more. It is, however, not invasive like its Asian cousins. This native variety is less vigorous & easier to manage, refraining from choking out trees over time, as some Wisteria want to do - a distinct advantage in the South, where Wisteria can run wild! all of these things make it an ecologically sensitive choice. 'Amethyst falls' flowers sooner than the Asian types (some of which can take 10 years or more), blooming its first season with fragrant, vividly purple flowers on 4- to 6" racemes that appear in spring & repeat all summer. Its bloom also arrive about two weeks later in the season than others, so late-winter frosts seldom affect flowering. The many attributes of 'Amethyst falls', which include its deer & drought tolerance & its disease-resistant foliage, earned it a Georgia gold medal in 2006 this gorgeous vine is a perfect choice for pergolas, trellises, fences, arbors, & containers, attracting butterflies to your garden all summer long. It can also be trained as a free-standing tree - tie it to a sturdy 5- or 6-foot stake & prune the top to encourage branching. Pruning should occur in late winter to shape & remove any undesirable growth. Another light trim after the first flush of flowers will improve branching & produce an encore bloom. Mature height: 20-30' mature width: 4-6' exposure: full sun to partial shade hardiness zones: 5-9

I received this as a little twig sticking out of a small pot of dirt. It was packaged very well to protect the little baby inside. I immediately stuck her in the window in my kitchen and gave her a drink. Within a few days she rewarded me with a green bud. Since I knew she was alive I moved her into a bigger pot and she has grown so much in the last couple of weeks! I couldn't be happier with my purchase and look forward to watching my baby grow.

5.0 out of 5 stars First time purchase of any plant on line...or shipped to me. Very pleased., June 29, 2017
I am very impressed with the arrival of the Wisteria Vine. I have never ordered a plant through the mail. I always am afraid to. Fearing that being packaged and traveling through the heat of the summer in a truck, that an amount of damage will effect the plant and probably have it arrived damaged, I reluctantly ordered this plant, and wondered what I had gotten into. The plant arrived today, and was very well wrapped, carefully, and had cloth/papertowels dampened and soaked and still very wet in the packaging. The plant was intact and very healthy looking. The leaves are all green and healthy and the small pot it is in, survived with the soil undisturbed. The plant was about 8-9 inches high from the soil....and is in very healthy condition. I am very excited, and pleased. I have included pictures. They also included specific instructions about watering the wisteria immediately upon arriving, about how to handle the plant, how to take care of it, how to transplant it, and... Read more
